Facemask applique

I haven't quite got the hang of making the perfect facemask, if such a thing exists. I do, however, have a small collection of them now, some more even than others.

The two I've made this weekend started off with me sewing some crochet motifs onto patterned cotton fabric, as shown in the above and below photos.


I sewed on the elastic bands and then the dark blue lining (which will be the fabric touching the face). Somewhere in all of this I put the nose wire (what's the correct term for it?!) in and added the ridges at the side so the middle part can move out and take the shape of the face.


Crochet flowers and leaves above. Red branch of leaves below. I like to think they will look quite nice on!


This week I'll probably make a couple more plain ones, I need the practice and I still have the dark red and dark green patterned fabric. I'm inclined to finish using what I have before buying more (although I don't think I've ever succeeded in doing so!). But I really am running out of space so I should cool it haha.
