Feeling hot hot hot

Have you melted yet? I melted 3 days ago. Hopefully you're staying safe in the sun (and enjoying it too!).

It was baking hot on this particular day but not too hot to crochet! I have several purses on the go at the moment - the yarn I bought the other week is still too lovely to put down.

Which is your favourite colour?

In other work, I've been getting slightly obsessed with little branches and leaves. I'm still figuring out what to do with them - sewing them onto other items (eg the crochet purses, or adding them onto existing bags, scarves etc) is probably the obvious choice. The other day, however, I decided to arrange a couple of separate branches onto plain cotton and sew a blanket stitch border around it:

With this, the colour combinations are endless! I am in the middle of another one of these squares with a pink border. The blanket stitch needs working on, but I guess this comes with practice.

Below is another branch composition I'm still working on. It didn't take too long to crochet, maybe 2 hours or so, but sewing it onto the cotton backing was rather trickier, not least because I probably wasn't using the most appropriate needle and embroidery loop.

I have a plan for this though - I want to sew it onto my face mask which is plain black. The idea is to have the white cotton above cover the front of the mask. I envisage it looking good but I have no clue how easy it is to do.

Finally, another item I'd like to share with you; a coloured tweed stitch. I am a fan of this colour combo, but have little practice with this stitch (and joining in new colours). We'll see how it goes!

Thank you so much for reading. There will be a 1 week break from this blog next Sunday, so I'll see you on Sunday 23rd August.

This is your space as much as it is mine, so do leave any comments, suggestions or ideas you might have below 😊💐 let's get the conversation started 🙏
