For Viv

Hello dear friends, especially Viv; here's a blog post for you as promised 😊

No, really, I have been crafting a lot but not getting items finished in a timely manner. I do, however, have 2 of these lovely scarves finished and currently working on the 3rd one:

This yarn was given to me by a dear friend and I think the colour mix works well with this ribbed pattern (from DK's A Little Course in Crochet).

I've also had the scarf below on my knitting needles for ages (possibly a year 😬👀) and I can feel them starting to bend poor things. This pattern is called travelling rib and is from DK's A Little Course in Knitting (I'm a fan of their books!).

But my definite highlight of the crafting week was finding these beautiful threads! They're viscose rayon threads by German company Madeira and are for machine embroidery. Although I don't have an embroidery sewing machine, I always have a use for threads, especially ones this pretty and bargainous. They were £10 for the lot in a charity shop. Quick online research tells me they probs would've been at least 20 times that if bought individually, and the larger ones (5000m) were available to trade buyers only.

I decided to make a complex and time consuming friendship bracelet using 2 strands for every... My vocabulary is lacking here. I cut long lengths of thread and using a foam wheel have slotted in 2 strands of thread where usually thicker strands would be used. The result is an extremely fine plaited pattern. Zoom and squint some more!

It's taken me 3+ hours to do this much! Approx 11cm.

I'm very much hoping to finish the epic cross stitch I started in April soon... And to receive a peranakan beading kit from Malaysia too. I am desperate to learn this intricate and dying art.

Thank you for giving your time to join me and read this. Sending you lots of love,

Lingling x
