Granny squares

Last week, I found an incredible bargain.

K & J Crafts, Cwmbran is probably my new favourite shop. For somewhere not particularly big they really do have all craft related items covered. Their Sirdar Toscano DK yarn (100% cotton) was reduced from £6.99 to £2.50 per ball. I bought 8 and decided to crochet solid granny squares, which I'd never crocheted before. Each yarn ball has different shades and specks of several colours in it, so crocheting something dense means it gives a beautiful effect as you can see the colours changing and fading in and out.

So it seems I managed to crochet rectangles instead of squares! However, on my next attempt I counted the stitches and seemingly rectified whatever mistake I was making so now I have squares!

I always went back to K & J Crafts and bought the remaining stock they had - 25 balls of yarn 😍😊😎 I delighted in arranging them in rows the other day, and I'm sure I'll do so again soon haha!

I'm thinking of making the squares into bags - adding a lining and a zip, as per the smaller crochet purses I've made. As you may know, the living room is under construction and good news, the plasterer should be here in 10 days or so. Once the wall has been painted (by us!) and the carpets changed I can finally create my craft corner and have all of the yarn and craft items nicely displayed, rather than in the boxes and carrier bags they're all in at the moment. I can't wait!

Thank you for your valuable time, until next Sunday,

Lingling
